Do Overs (8 Rewrite Notes for Any Comedy Script)

In a surprising development, there are no declared winners (yet) for the Other Network Comedy Contest this year (Dec. 2008 deadline).
Like the Nobel committee, the Other Network decided this prize isn't relative and there aren't automatically any winners. In previous years, we saw material we loved and work that was good enough to get showrunners interested in attaching to the projects. This year... not yet. So here's what we're going to do.
We are extending the deadline to Feb. 28, 2009. If you already submitted work, you are welcome to re-write and re-submit your work and we'll reconsider it at no additional cost (please include proof of payment with your updated entry).
If you didn't enter material before you can do it now.
Happy Hanumannukah!

This year Hannukah coincides with the Winter Solstice, Christmas and Dec. 26, birthday of the great Hindu monkey god Hanuman.
Hanuman is often shown ripping his chest open so you can see his devotion - in his case to Lord Rama. And he is known for a courageous leap of faith - over the ocean, to rescue Rama's queen Sita. He also can move mountains. His mom was a human who experienced immaculate conception after eating some magic pudding. He also is often depicted with spectacularly muscular thighs. Maybe the pudding contains steroids?
In any case, we think Hanuman is a great example to follow in your devotion to your work and finding the courage to take your own creative leaps of faith. Something to think about when your monkey mind starts chattering.
