There are at least 16 different kinds of funny 'types' - and infinite variations. If you're writing any kind of sketch, script or novel, please consider an array of differentiated characters.
Angry ranter
Sarcastic/Wise-Cracker/Smart-ass
Dry wit/Straight man/woman
Neurotic Worrier
Practical joker
Doofus/Idiot/Moron
Pompous Buffoon
Clown (conscious buffoon)
Anarchist/Provocateur (political clown)
Gossip/Busybody
Dirty Boy/Girl (includes Potty-mouth & Double-Entredrers)
- Inappropriate (on purpose or not)
Dizzy/Ditzy/Airhead
Space Cadet/Stoner
Nerd/Dweeb/Scientist
Mad Professor
And remember, they each get laughs in their own way. If you think of others I missed, please let me know.
